Ben Scott - HeroScott, 30 was on the books of Sheffield United as a young professional during the 2003/04 season during the reign of Neil Warnock but failed to see his way through the Academy ranks with Paddy Kenny in goal.

After a career in non-league Scott now applies his trade at local club Stocksbridge Park Steels and it was in this weekend’s match against King’s Lynn. He was unfortunately dismissed during the game but returned to the field, rushing down the tunnel as screams for help were heard.

Scott, a qualified nurse witnessed a man in his 70’s had stopped breathing and he helped two charity volunteers perform CPR and use a defibrillator to revive him. He spector who hasn’t been named is recovering in hospital.

The former Blade said: 'If I hadn't been sent off or if I wasn't playing in the game, I wouldn't have been able to help the gentleman. All I can hope is that he makes some kind of recovery. He's been given the best chance. It was the initial response from the St John Ambulance that saved the man's life.”

'If anyone should take the credit it's those two. They do it for free. It's humbling.'
