The ex Bolton man has been assisting Kevin Blackwell on the touchlines on matchdays, which has undoubtedly learnt the 39-year-old the trade of management. He picked up a long-term injury in 2008 which saw him miss the rest of the season which has just come to a close.
His gaffer, Kevin Blackwell said: "Speedo is going to give it a go in the summer to try and get fully fit, but if not I am sure he will come into the coaching department full-time. I can't bring other people in because everything must be put into the playing side."
Speed himself, speaking after the loss at Wembley said: "I'm going to begin my own little pre-season next week and betime we come back for training next July I'll see if I can still do it"
