Gary Speed has been appointed the new boss of Sheffield United Football Club. A press conference was held at Bramall Lane this afternoon where Speed himself was present with Trevor Birch, United's Chief Executive.
It was confirmed at the conference that Speed has signed a 3-year deal, with Chief Executive Trevor Birch reiterating that Speed's appointment is by no mean short-term.
Speed takes over from the departed Kevin Blackwell just three days after the 0:3 home defeat to Queens Park Rangers, the game which culminated Blackwell's sacking.
At Speed's request, Sam Ellis remains at the club and will assist him, but the Welshman will also be choosing another person to join his coaching team and help steer the Blades out of this league and to the Premiership.
