Hurst, an academy player at Bramall Lane is currently on loan at the Saltergate club, but should see his loan spell extended as Blades boss Neil Warnock continues his policy on loaning out future talent.
A Chesterfield spokesman said: "The intention is to have him here for the best combination of games. We can have him for 93 days so we are delaying the move so he is here over Easter."
