Striker Given Ultimatum

Porter, 30 was the Blades top scorer with 11 goals last season and was hero of the hour when his two goals at home to Nottingham Forest cannoned United into the FA Cup Quart-Finals. However he sees his Bramall Lane contract expire this summer and whilst a new deal has been put on the table no offer has yet to be accepted.

Nigel Clough told The Sheffield Star: “We really do need to hear now what Chris’ intentions are. We didn’t put a timescale on things but we do want to know and will be chasing that up ASAP. It’s not something we want to drag on; as I’m sure people will understand.” He concluded; “We’ve made Chris an offer. We didn’t have to do that.”

Rumours on the Blades-Mad Message Board suggest that the striker will turn down a deal at S2 in favour of a move back to former club Oldham Athletic.
