Derby County F.C. proposed the idea to the Football League, as the Premier League and the FA Cup already allow clubs to confirm seven substitutes. The Football League have accepted Derby's proposal which means sides in the Coca-Cola Championship, Coca-Cola League One and Coca-Cola League Two are now allowed to name seven substitutes on matchdays, but only three players maximum are allowed to enter the field of play like usual.
