Sheffield United striker Billy Sharp has said that Blackwell has had faith in him since he arrived here.

He said:"I had some space on the right and after getting sent clear i knew i had a decent chance - luckily i managed to hit a decent strike into the bottom corner.

"It was a great win for us and the fans were absoloutly terrific in very testing conditions. All the lads deserve the praise though because Paddy made a great save early on and the defence was strong throughout."

Sharp has admitted that his confidence has risen a mile since Blackwell arrived.

He said:"My confidence has improved dramatically and that is down to the gaffer who has belived in me from day one.

"I have have started every game since he came and i knew i could have put away the chances when they presented themselves. I want to keep scoring goals and have a strong finish to the season. We must keep winning and see where that takes us."

Asked about the play-offs this season he said:"We must take things game-by-game and try to pick up as many points as we can. We have another tough game next week and then a derby to look forward to.

"A team always makes a late run for the top 6 and there is no reason why it can't be us."
