It is fair to say that Ipswich Town are a big Football Club in the Championship, but when you consider they are based in a County where there nearest rivals are Norwich City and Colchester United, you can not blame me for believing £24.00 is a little bit much.
We discovered from this report that on average it would cost a family of four (two adults and two children) £65.96 to visit a Championship Stadium, where it would have cost £82.00 to visit Portman Road, these figures of course do not include traveling costs and meals.
'Ticket Office and Call Centre Manager John Ford at Ipswich Town told Blades-Mad; 'I cannot comment on the prices charged by other clubs but as in any industry there is a range of prices from company to company and whether to purchase is a decision taken by a customer. Price is just one of the factors in making that decision'.
'We believe that our ticket prices are competitive and offer good value to supporters. Portman Road has been upgraded over the past few years and has a range of good facilities for supporters. In line with other clubs we offer tickets at the same prices for away supporters as home supporters in equivalent areas'.
However, to my amazement I found that Nottingham Forest was the most expensive ground in our division, charging £25 to visit the City Ground, though hats off to Gillingham who where the cheapest at £13.
But, when it comes to concessions we found that the most expensive ground was the Walkers Stadium, who charges £20 whilst Millmoor, the cheapest charged just £9. That's good news to all you Blades who plan on visiting Millmoor on Saturday 11 December (K/O: 5:35pm).
