Gary Naysmith and Justin Haber both endured two 90 minute games in the space of week across Europe in very different climates. Naysmith's Scotland scraped past Iceland last night with a satisfying 2:1 victory although last Saturday they fell to a 3:0 thumping from the Netherlands at the Amsterdam Arena.

Haber who is Malta's number one choice goalkeeper leaked in six goals in two encounters for the Maltese. His side were on the wrong end of two 3:0 losses from Hungary (yesterday) and Denmark on their own patch (Saturday).

David Cotterill made a brief appearance in Wales' 0:2 defeat to Germany at the Millennium Stadium. On Saturday when Cotterill didn't play, the Welshmen lost to Finland by an identical score-line.

Jamie Ward was unused twice in Northern Ireland's two victories. They edged past Slovenia by one goal to nil last night and only by a one goal margin again at the weekend in a 3:2 success.

John-Joe O'Toole made a brief cameo appearance last Saturday in Republic of Ireland U21'S 2:1 win over Spain.

And finally just to round up some other international news not involving current Blades players; Phil Jagielka made a brief appearance in England's 2:1 victory against Ukraine at Wembley. Also last night around the world, Argentina suffered their biggest defeat in over 50 years when they were surprisingly thumped 6:1 by Bolivia. And last but not least Poland absolutely battered San Marino in a 10:0 success.
