The 24-year-old winger joined Middlesbrough a few days ago from League One participants Colchester United. Yeates confesses that Middlesbrough sweetly attracted him and he made his mind-up almost straight away, as soon as Gareth Southgate lodged interest.

Kevin Blackwell, Gary Johnson (Bristol City) and Neil Warnock (Crystal Palace) all submitted serious interest in the midfielder. He began:

"Bristol City, Crystal Palace and Sheffield United were all interested. But once I heard that Middlesbrough were in touch then there was only one place I wanted to go.

"The gaffer (Gareth Southgate) made it very clear how much he wanted me and that was a great feeling."

Sheffield United will look elsewhere for talented players to improve the midfield. Andrew Surman seems to be fading out of the picture slightly despite the Sai
nts being in a considerable amount of financial trouble. Meanwhile, Kyel Reid is expected to put pen to paper in the next few days, we understand he underwent a medical test not long ago.
