The Blades boss finished second place in the LMA (League Managers Association) awards. The awards include all 92 Football League clubs where Everton's David Moyes picked up 1st place while fellow Scot Alex Ferguson finished 3rd.

"It's Ironic that I was just pipped by David - I voted for him," Neil Warnock told sufc.co.uk. "David has done well at Everton this season and he deserves the award."

"It really pleases me that the managers have recognised what we have done at United this season."

Moyes said "I'm delighted and surprised to win the award."

However Warnock did not pick up the Division One award which was won by Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp. Other winners was ex-Wednesday boss Paul Jewell of Wigan Athletic for Division Two and Division Thee went to Wrexham's Denis Smith.
