West Brom 0:0 Sheffield United

Sheffield United got a hard fought 0:0 draw at the hawthorns.

Just over 1,000 fans travelled down to the West Midlands to see a well performed Blades team. Under fire manager Bryan Robson clapped the Blades fans for a few seconds after the game.

West brom started brightly as ex-Sheffield Wednesday player Chris Brunt crossed a sweet ball into the box and to be flicked on by top goalscorer Kevin Phillips but it was only to hit the rear post.

Gary speed limped off in the first half and Chris Armstrong replaced him.

Lee martin crossed a corner in just before the half time break which was met by Matt Kilgallon but he was only to put it slightly wide.

The Blades started the second half brightly as Gary Naysmith ran down the flanks and passed it to Stephen Quinn outside the box but it was only to be blasted well of the crossbar.

Sheffield United had a nervy few minutes as a slip up by Gary Naysmith and Paddy kenny was looking like the ball was going to run in the net but Paddy Kenny ran back to claim it.

Rob Hulse was introduced on 90 minutes as James beattie made way.L. Mason blew the final whistle as courus of boo's went round the Hawthorns from the Baggies fans as the Blades fans clapped their players off the pitch.
