Who's Next In Line To Blades Throne?

NIGEL ADKINS (Odds: 7/2)

Currently manger of Championship side Reading he made his name with Southampton where he guided them with back-to-back promotions from League One into the dizzy heights of the Premier League and since then the Saints haven't looked back.

Would he leave the Royals? Possibly - they aren't the club they once where and will unlikely to be making a promotion push any time soon. He guided them the FA Cup semi-final this season only to lose out narrowly to Arsenal in extra-time.

KARL ROBINSON (Odds: 16/1)

It is surprising that Robinson's odds for taking charge are so low, he 'apparently' has family in Sheffield but having celebrated automatic promotion with MK Dons on the final day of the season I personally wouldn't part my ties for any other club.

He would be my firm choice from this list of managers but will be an unsung hero in Milton Keynes and will be very difficult to draw him away from Stadium:MK - he also turned down the opportunity in 2013 prior to David Weir's appointment.

NEIL WARNOCK (Odds: 50/1)

The former Blades boss has ruled himself out of the running. However he would have made a good candidate. A Sheffield United side under Warnock always gave 110% and battled hard from first to last minute even if it didn't bring the prize it richly deserved.

Celebrated automatic promotion to the Premier League in 2006 he is curently without a managerial job but would quite happily return to Bramall Lane as a Director of Football.

PHIL PARKINSON (1/3)

With a low budget Parkinson has been successful as manger of Yorkshire rivals Bradford City. Appointed in 2011 he won the Bantams promotion from League Two as well as earning folklore status when he beat the odds and guided them to the League Cup Final! He was also successful this season in the FA Cup, taking Reading to a Quarter-Final replay but sadly ran out of steam - but they defeated Chelsea 4-2 at Stamford Bridge along the way.

Currently he is bookies favourite to be named Blades boss, an appointment which I believe a large percentage of the Blades faithful would welcome but only time will tell.
