Wilson purring after Spireites win - Sheffield United - Blades-Mad

Wilson purring after Spireites win

Evans' treble saw him hit the 30-goal mark for the season. All the striker's goals came in the second half after on-loan midfielder Franck Moussa quickly cancelled out Lee Williamson's opener for the Blades to send the sides into half-time level at 1-1.

Wilson, a former Chesterfield defender, sympathised with his old club but thought the Blades were excellent during their 4-1 victory at Bramall Lane. He said: "Ched is unplayable at times. I'd hate to be a defender playing against him."

He added: "He's in great form. He was creating stuff out of nothing at times.

"You can't criticise the lad because he's very confident in front of goal. He doesn't worry when he misses a chance because he knows he's going to get another one.

"Overall it was a very good performance. We gained a bit of momentum and confidence from last week. We've got some goals in our favour and that could be vital at the end of the season."

Chesterfield manager John Sheridan knows his side have their work cut out if they are to remain in the third tier, as the defeat left them bottom of the table and nine points adrift of safety.

Sheridan, who saw his side lift the Johnstone's Paint Trophy at Wembley on Sunday, was disappointed that the Spireites failed to build on their promising first-half performance.

"I was very pleased with how we played in the first-half," said Sheridan. "I thought in the first-half we were really in the game and my team talk at half-time was very positive. I told them they could even go on and win it.

"We've got to go on our best run of the season now. All the teams are fighting for their lives. It's going to be very, very difficult but we've got to try our hardest."
