Sheffield United are rumoured to be on the verge of signing former Stockport County, Rochdale and Rotherham United striker Adam Le Fondre.

Le Fondre, 24 has netted eighteen goals this season, netting once against former club Stockport last Saturday – scoring his 100th Football League goal ending a goal drought of eight games.

Earlier in the season he scored four as the Millers beat Cheltenham Town 6-4 in an emphatic thriller.

Last summer he was rumoured to be subject to a move to Barnsley, linking up with former manager Mark Robins, but a move never materialised and he remained at the Don Valley Stadium.

However there are unconfirmed rumours that a bid has been placed by Sheffield United and accepted by Rotherham United for their star striker who has the distinction of having never been sent off in a professional fixture.

Providing rumours are correct then he could be a Blades player by the end of the day.
