Sheffield United could raid fellow Championship rivals Nottingham Forest for their former Stoke City striker Ben Brereton.

Brereton, 19 came through the youth ranks at Nottingham Forest after playing at Academy level for Stoke City. The Stoke-on-Trent youngster scored six goals last season in 39 appearances in all competition.

He played in both fixtures against the Blades last season. He came off the bench as Forest won 2-1 in their home tie and in the reverse fixture at Bramall Lane he played the full 90 minutes of the 0-0 bore draw.

Blades boss Chris Wilder is on the hunt for a new striker with only Billy Sharp and Leon Clarke at his disposal. Ched Evans has been made available for loan. A number of forwards has been linked with the club but as yet no signings have been made in that department.

As the season draws ever closer it is imperative that United bolster their squad and if rumours are true on Bereton’s incoming, then the Blades could have an exciting young prospect on their books.
