Leigertwood, aged 24 will soon see his Selhurst Park contract expire where he will become a free agent but has yet to agree a contract with the London club.

It is thought that the two Premier League newcomers Sheffield United and Watford both require the centre-half's services whilst Cardiff City are also interested.

The Eagles however may be keen to keep hold of Leigertwood having only sold Fitz Hall to Wigan Athletic recently whilst new boss Peter Taylor is making every attempt to prize Leon Cort away from his old club Hull City for a figure believed to be £750,000.

The Enfield born defender played 66 times (+ 3 goals) for Wimbledon (now MK Dons) before moving to Palace in February 2004, he has since played 68 times for the Eagles; scoring just once. Whilst he was with the Dons he made 9 appearances whilst on loan at the Orient.
