McNulty, 21 looks set to leave Livingston where he was a team mate with Stefan Scougall after scoring 18 goals this season in the Scottish Championship and has attracted interest from Glasgow Rangers, Birmingham City and Aberdeen.
Whilst McNulty will be a cash buy United are expected to be favourites to land the Scot.
