Duo Battle for Former Blade

Birmingham City's Diego Fabbrini (left) and Blackburn Rovers' Matthew Kilgallon battle for the ball.

Kilgallon, 32 was released by his recent club Blackburn Rovers following the end of his contract at Ewood Park but news has emerged that both Sheffield United and Charlton Athletic are interested in services.

Having graduated through the youth ranks at Leeds United, he was signed by former boss Neil Warnock in January 2007 but despite their best efforts were unable to save themselves from relegation to the Championship. He was also part of the squad which reached the 2009 Play-Off Final and in January 2010 made the move to Sunderland. Whilst with United he made 124 (+2) appearances and scored 4 goals. He has also enjoyed loan spells with West Ham United, Middlesbrough and Doncaster Rovers during his career.

The defender would fit perfectly into both sides and having played at the Lane previously and will no doubt be living closer to South Yorkshire than the Capital, we would hope that he would chose Bramall Lane over The Valley should the right deal be deemed acceptable by both parties.
