Paterson has played in 20 fixtures for the Clarets this season, but may play a vital role soon due to an injury sustained to star man Charlie Austin. It is however believed that the Lancashire club would be willing to let him leave, he is out of contract at the end of this season and a 'good talk' from Kevin McDonald could possibly persuade him to join the Lane.
To date he has made 109 (+26) appearances and scored 33 goals for the Turf Moor club since arriving from Scunthorpe United in July 2008.
