It has been published that Derby County defender Jordan Stewart is currently holding talks with the Blades. The unfavored full-back can also play a central-defensive role if needed, so his backline versatility could come in handy for Kevin Blackwell's contingent with the Gary Naysmith out with injury. United are incredibly short in cover in the defence, with the only recognised left-back being Andy Taylor, and the only recognised centre-backs being the popular pairing of Chris Morgan and Matt Kilgallon.
Leigh Bromby is on the brink of joining Leeds United, whilst Brian Howard's name has been banded around as a departer. The former Barnsley man is allegedly wanted at Reading, with James Harper possibly coming the other way.
Lee Hendrie is a rumoured target of Nigel Clough's Derby, whilst Billy Sharp is continually being linked with Doncaster Rovers and Notts County.
Wigan Athletic midfielder Ben Watson is also a supposed Blades target. Jonathan Fortune who didn't impress in a trial recently, has had his name spread around as a possible rushed signing. The former Charlton defender is currently working with SUFC to improve his fitness.
Meanwhile, loanee Keith Treacy has expressed his desire to depart Blackburn Rovers and 'wants to get out', and admits he's 'in limbo.'
Matt Kilgallon is still with us, as I type this, but that's 18 hours before the window's shutters are pulled down.
What will the fray look like come 17:00GMT on Tuesday the 1st?
