James Beattie's speculation of leaving the Blades increase even more in the national newspapers. Nottingham Forest, Sunderland, Middlesbrough, Bolton and another number of clubs are chasing the £4m striker.

The Blades have received good news involving two on loan players David Cotterill and John Halls. Cotterill has been told he can leave the JJB if a reasonable offer is offered by the Blades. Meanwhile John Halls has been put on the transfer list at the Madjeski so he looks a certain to join United.

Kevin Blackwell has warned clubs that Michael Tonge is not for sale. The twenty five year old has made 258 appearances for the Blades in his lengthy stay.

FA Cup hero Brian Howard is also being linked with United. He scored the dramatic winner against Liverpool in front of the kop and knocked the Reds out of this years FA Cup. Howard is said to be wanted by United for £2m.

And finally John Barnwell looks the favourite to become the Blades director of football. And even more finally Kevin McCabe may step down as the Sheffield United PLC Chairman in the summer.
