Nugent (aged 21) has become a target for many top sides after pressing for Preston since he joined for a nominal fee from Bury in January 2005, he has since then smashed in 20 goals in 53 Football League games for the Deepdale side.
He signed a professional contract with Bury in March 2002; marking his debut in the 1-1 home draw with Port Vale in the League meeting the same month.
The Liverpool born striker played 66 (36) times and scored 20 goals for the Shakers before he joined their Lancashire rivals.
A number of clubs including Everton and Wolverhampton Wanderers are rumoured to be interested in Nugent and it is believed that a substantial bid will be made for the striker soon.
