Blades boss Neil Warnock has hinted that he is on the lookout for a new defender despite already purchasing Chris Lucketti (Preston) and David Sommeil (Manchester City) and is on the verge of tying up a deal with Li Tie who was recently released by Everton.

However United could miss out on Matthew Kilgallon (Leeds United) and Jolean Lescott who is Everton bound. Mr. Warnock looks set to offer a £2,500,000 bid for the 47 capped Jamaican International.

The Deepdale club are without a manager after Billy Davies upped sticks and returned to Derby County, this looks to cause a split up a Preston squad that could do well next year.

Davis represented his country last Saturday in the 6-0 defeat to England at Old Trafford where Liverpool striker Peter Crouch grabbed an hat-trick (Jamaica must have been poor) despite the 6' 7" forward firing a penalty over the top.
