The 33 year old defender will be given a free transfer next summer when his contract runs out at the Madejski Stadium but our intelligence tells us that Mr. Warnock may offer £25,000 to take the Welsh International straight away as the Blades look for more cover in the back four.

Reading manager Steve Coppell told readingfc.co.uk; "I explained the club's point of view to Adie and that no contracts would be offered until substantially later on in the season, but Adie as a senior pro feels that that is a situation he can't see continuing."

"He wanted more reassurance, which unfortunately I couldn't give him at the moment, and without there being a confrontation, we have mutually decided Adie's name should be circulated to other clubs.

"If somebody comes in for him and makes a better offer than we have, he would be allowed to go."
