League Two Race Hots Up

Last updated : 07 May 2016 By @blades_mad1889

The final round of League Two fixtures takes place today with the trio battling for the remaining two automatic spots left available with Northampton Town already taking top spot. The two teams which are successful will win promotion to League One and the one unsuccessful side will battle it out with the three sides who have already qualified for the Play-Offs; Portsmouth, Plymouth Argyle and AFC Wimbledon.

Accrington and Johnstone Paint Trophy Finalists Oxford United both hold the advantage ahead of Bristol Rovers, though only two points separate Rovers and the Lancashire side. All three teams are at home and all arguably have simple fixtures to fulfil with Rovers hosting already relegated Dagenham & Redbridge.

With both Accrington and Oxford United firmly in the driving seat all that is required of them is to claim maximum points in their respective fixtures at home to Stevenage and Wycombe Wanderers. If the pair fail to win their matches then they MUST rely on Dagenham & Redbridge either winning or at most claiming an unlikely point at Bristol Rovers. A point would see the Pirates level on points with the U's, but Oxford hold a rather substantial goal difference ahead of their rivals.
