Each week Blades-Mad submit an article to be printed in The Mercury newspaper; here is this week's instalment as we touch on the new manager appointment of Micky Adams.

Our festive fixtures proved that we were no scrooges, gifting our opponent’s victories; conceding in each game in the 90th minute – whilst the Blades are lacking considerably due to injuries and suspensions it’s become very clear that the back four needs adjusting.
In the three games over Xmas and New Year United have leaked 11 goals whilst scoring six themselves, it’s quite positive to learn that we are finding the back of the net but worrying that we are unable to keep clean sheets.
With the January transfer market now open we hope that Mr. Adams will spend any cash available wisely and will start by bolstering the back line, without a solid defence we will sink faster than Wednesday!
I write this piece prior to our home game with Doncaster Rovers and hopefully we’ll have come home happy; but the new boss will have a reprieve this weekend with the prospect of Aston Villa in the FA Cup.
I doubt that many united fans will be interested if we were to be eliminated at this stage of the competition, especially as we are classed as the underdogs – it would be nice to see us in round four but our battle against relegation is worth a lot more.
All Blades hope that Mr. Adams and his assistant Alan Cork does a good job at the Lane but I do hope myself that the fans won’t turn as quick on this management regime as they did under Robson and Blackwell.
