He has spearheaded Sheffield United's frontline for a big chunk of the season, and the former Stoke City man was on target yet again on Saturday...

Richard Cresswell joined Sheffield United towards the end of September and was welcomed to jeers from some sections of the Kop, this presumed to be because of his Leeds and Sheffield Wednesday connections. At the time, I called these fans who booed him before he had even kicked a ball for us as 'morons'. The minority of Blades fans who inexplicably gave him that treatment have all quietened and accepted that Richard Cresswell was a fantastic recruitment and it was foolish to boo him.

The 32-year-old made the move from Staffordshire on an initial loan deal, but that was then turned into a permanent contract in January 2010. Since swapping red and white shirts to red and white shirts, Cresswell has found the onion bag 12 times this season, and he was out for over a month with a rib injury earlier in the season.

Yesterday (Saturday), he was on target yet again, and his goal proved to be United's only goal, not for the first time either. He's scored the Blades' only goal in a game seven times!

Doncaster, QPR (three times, all in separate games), Middlesbrough, Reading, Plymouth, Blackpool (twice), Newcastle and most recently Coventry City have all been punished by the frontman.

He was at the forefront of Stoke City's promotion to the top-flight and has certainly chipped in with his fair share since becoming a Blade! He's now joint top with Darius Henderson on United's top-scorers list - both are on 12.

Well done, Cressy. More to come please, preferably next Sunday!
