Last season, of course, the Blades were defeated by Burnley when a Wade Elliott strike 13 minutes in proved to be the only goal of the game. The campaign before saw Bristol City and Hull City battle it out for the final place in the promise land - the Robins weren't triumphant - Dean Windass volleyed the Tigers into the Premier League.
The Blades and the Robins both face each other Saturday, with both teams vying for a place in the play-offs again. City didn't do too well last season, the season after their play-off disaster, with them finishing 13 points off 6th.
It usually occurs - the team that loses in the Championship play-off final languishes in the league standings the following season. We can only hope it doesn't happen again this season, as it would mean yet more failure for the Blades.
Meanwhile, this season's opposite fixture at Ashton Gate was a memorable, dramatic one. The Blades went two nil up through Darius Henderson, but City replied with two second-half goals, the latter goal coming in stoppage time. But, just seconds after it looked like they salvaged a point, Henderson was there again to convert past Gerken and claim his first professional hat-trick. A repeat tomorrow (Saturday) wouldn't go amiss!
Up the Blades!
