Did You Know?

In the space of just five years; from 1957 to 1962 Ipswich Town manager Alf Ramsey took the club from the Third Division (South) the top tier, the old Division One. Ramsey then left to take up the England job.

01. What's the best that could happen this season?

In my view, play-offs are a realistic target as long as we secure a few potential signings. It won't be easy and I am sure we will will do it the hard way as usual. However, with the management and squad we currently have I believe that Play-Offs are a possibility.

02. And the worst?

I would hate to say relegation but look what happened to Leeds last season! As long we do not become complacent then I feel we will be safe and perhaps even get promoted.

03. Young player to watch?

Danny Haynes. This boy has huge talent and promise and is widely regarded in Ipswich as the next Darren Bent. He is an England U19 regular and is definitely one for the not too distant future.

04. Most important player?

If we do sign Francis Jeffers then it would be him. However, if we do not land his services then Jason De Vos will be vital in keeping the defence firmly together and prevent those moments of defensive chaos that comes with a less experienced defence.

05. Player you would like to get rid of?

Matt Richards. He is simply rubbish. The amount of times he has turned in a below-par performance is a joke! His clumsiness, slowness and lack of composure are enough for me to get rid of him.

06. Is your manager the right man for the job?

Jim Magilton is an excellent young manager with all the passion and hunger to take the club where it belongs, The Premiership. Perhaps he is inexperienced and he would be the first to admit that, but he is a brave manager who is not afraid of speaking his mind or making bold decisions.

07. What advice would you give him?

I wouldn't have much advice for him but I suppose I would tell him that he should perhaps try harder to keep certain players happy and not be so confrontational with them.

08. Which team do you most want to beat this season?

The answer to this question has to be the Canaries and I am sure all Town fans would agree with me on this one. Any match against them is a cup final and I would love to trash Norwich at Carrow Road.

09. Which opposition player will get the most stick?

Darren Huckerby. Every derby match he gets absolutely "rinsed" by the Ipswich faithful.

10. Where will you finish?

Hopefully in the play-offs but somewhere in mid-table is a more probable outcome for the season.

11. How would you rate Sheffield United and were will they finish?

Well, I believe Sheffield United are real contenders for automatic promotion as you have a lot of money and are in a great financial situation which is key for success in today's game. As long as you guys splash the cash then I have full confidence that you will be back in the premiership next season if not before (with the tribunal).
