2010-11 Championship Preview: Coventry City

Coventry City's 2009/2010 season is one that is best swept under a carpet. It was a season that proved hugely disappointing with two ten games without a win spells and although there was brief hope in February and early March that the play-offs might be obtainable, a slump followed and City are one of the few clubs never to have finished in the top six of a division in the last forty years.

The final game of the season which brought a 4-0 home defeat against Watford summed up the season and left supporters enraged when local hero Marcus Hall was not given the chance to say goodbye to the support with a final appearance.

Manager Chris Coleman, who developed a scared to lose mentality, rightly took a lot of flak for that decision and with talk of boycotts and non-season ticket renewals, it was time to get rid of a manager who had guided the team to unacceptable 21st, 17th and 19th place finishes whilst knocking a few thousand off the gate and start the rebuilding process again.
