2010-11 Championship Preview: Scunthorpe United

Last updated : 22 July 2010 By @blades_mad1889

As expected the Irons were strong at home and picked up enough points to secure their place in this seasons Championship.

They are, by the bookies recommendations the least likely to win promotion to the Premier League but having said that Blackpool were tipped to be relegated and somehow can't see the Glanford Park club re-creating the Seasiders plight.

Gary Hooper netted more than a dozen goals for Scunthorpe last season and he will no doubt have been sold on by the time this preview goes online; however they have already brought in his replacement in Rochdale striker Chris Dagnall as well as further additions in the form of Eddie Nolan (Preston North End), Bobby Grant (Accrington Stanley), Michael Collins (Huddersfield Town) and Jim McNulty (Brighton & Hove Albion).

However, they have lost key players in Josh Lillis, Grant McCann, Marcus Williams and Paul Hayes whilst Gary Hooper may leave before the seasons start - all these could contribute to the Iron downfall and will struggle against savour from relegation this time round!
