After a long season which seemingly was full of injuries and terrible performances the Blades finished just five points away from the play-off pack - though the season was interrupted mostly through injuries and at one point during the season could name an Injured XI with the players sidelined.

Shortly after the season ended Blades boss Kevin Blackwell stepped up his player search, insisting that he would looking to add around a dozen new players with Daniel Bogdanovic (Barnsley), Johnannes Ertl (Crystal Palace) and Leon Britton (Swansea City) all joining on a free transfer after being released from their respective clubs.

He has added to the squad by bringing in Simon Walton (Plymouth Argyle), Nyron Nosworthy (Sunderland), Robert Kozluk (Barnsley and, Steve Simonsen (Stoke City) whilst allowing both Paddy Kenny (QPR) and Billy Sharp (Doncaster Rovers) both leave for cash.

Despite a pre-season full of defeats it's important that the Blades stake a good start to the Championship campaign; they are likely to be dark horses in the league and are expected to finish outside the top six but wouldn't rule them out.
