Blades back on home soil - Dundee (H)

C:WindowsTempphpAFCD.tmpNigel Clough's men embark on Bramall Lane on Friday night for the first ever time for five of the gaffer's new signings that came through the doors at S2 in the off season.

Following on from a hefty 4:0 defeat to the hands on Burton Albion on Saturday, United backed that up with a 1:1 draw at Chris Wilder's Northampton Town on Tuesday night, but the Blades will be looking to record their first victory in front of their own fans.

Team News:

Marc McNulty, Jamal Campbell-Ryce, Craig Alcock, Chris Basham and Harrison McGahey are all in contention to feature.

The likes of Jamie Murphy, Neill Collins and Diego De Girolamo, none of whom featured at Sixfields in midweek, should feature at some point against the Scots, whilst Ryan Flynn is rated as touch and go.

George Long, who has agreed a loan move to Oxford United, is unlikely to be involved, whilst the game might come too soon for James Wallace, who is still recovering from injury.

Dundee:

Dundee provide one of three stern examinations on home soil this pre-season, with Huddersfield and Turkish champions Fenerbahce to follow next week. The Scottish Premiership outfit come south of the border undefeated in their preparations for the new season, which begins for them next Saturday in the League Cup against Peterhead.

Any Blades fans descending on the Lane expecting a comfortable home victory may want to think again as the Dees overturned Manchester City 2:0 just over a week ago, with Manuel Pellegrini fielding the likes of Samir Nasri, Alvaro Negredo, Jesus Navas and Micah Richards.

Paul Hartley's men have also seen off Morcecambe (4:2) and Hearts (3:0) in July.

Last season's Scottish Championship winners include Paul McGinn in their ranks, brother of United's Stephen.

Words from the Gaffer:

Blades boss Clough has revealed he his pleased to get back to work at Bramall Lane: "We now have three on the spin on home soil and it will be nice to play in front of our own supporters.

"It's good to come away from home but it'll be good to get back home at Bramall Lane. You always try and have one or two friendlies at home but we managed to get three with the Fenerbahce game.

"We want to get the new lads used to the surroundings, so they are used to being at 'home' prior to the Bristol City game."
