Blades v Lillywhites Preview

As I said in the introduction, our last game was against Crystal Palace in the Worthington Cup where United booked their place in the semi-finals as they won 3-1. United took the lead in the first half when Carl Asaba stabbed home after Phil Jagielka set him up. However Palace equalised with ten minutes to full time when Tommy Black crossed into the box where Robert Page's attempted cross cannoned off Shaun Murphy which found the back of the net.

The Blades soon re-took the lead five minutes later when Tonge's meddling in the box found Ndlovu on left hand side, his short cross found the head of Peschisolido where it looped over Kolinko and into the goal. Two minutes later Peschisolido grabbed another one when he got onto a Allison header which he poked home.

Sheffield United welcome back Steve Kabba upfront after he missed the Palace game as he was cup-tied, though United will miss Dean Windass as his loan spell as ended. Neil Warnock will be having a headache in trying to think about who will go up front though I believe that Carl Asaba will partner Kabba leaving Peschisolido and Allison on the bench.

Possible starting 11: Paddy Kenny, Phil Jagielka, Shaun Murphy, Robert Page, Jon Harley, Peter Ndlovu, Stuart McCall, Michael Brown, Michael Tonge, Carl Asaba, Steve Kabba.

Last Saturday Preston North End faced Grimsby Town at Deepdale where North End won 3-0, Graham Alexander opened the scoring with a 12th minute penalty while ex-Wednesday player Richard Cresswell made it two on 26th minute and David Healey rapped up the game on 59th minute.

Sadly Blades-Mad does not have any information about the Preston

North End as resources have let us down, so we can only name the team that beat Grimsby on Saturday.

Possible starting 11: David Lucas, Graham Alexander, Chris Lucketti, Colin Murdock, Rob Edwards, Paul McKenna, Dixon Etuhu, Eric Skora, Eddie Lewis, Richard Cresswell, David Healy.

Our game with Preston last season ended 2-2. David Healey, who was making his debut scored within 12 minutes of the kick off and with last kick of the first half Cresswell made it 2-0. With 2 mintes of the restart a Peschisolido strike from 20 yards out beat keeper David Lucas to make it 2-1 but United made it 2-2 when Patrick Suffo slid ball past Lucas but Georges Santos put the ball home to make sure of a draw with ten minutes left.

Prediction: United are riding high in joint third with three other clubs, a win must surely strengthen our chances of 3rd place spot but we need to win this game as Preston are not on form as what they were last season. I believe United will win this game 2-0.
