Brighton Preview

Both sides have to go back to 5th October when these teams last played in Division One, The Blades won 3-1 at Molineux against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Wolves took the lead after 35mins when Blades defender Robert Ullathorne somehow turned ball into his own net. On stoke of half-time United drew level when Michael Tonge's low shot deflected into Wolves goal. After the break United quickly made it 2-1 when Ulla's cross was met by a thunderbolt of a header by Wayne Allison and Tonge again scored two minutes later to make it 3-1.

The Seagulls did not have a great time at Vicarage Road where they lost 1-0, Icelandic International Heidar Helguson (remember him Unitedites?) won the game 1-0 for Watford.

The Blades have Steve Yates and Robert Kozluk coming back in training though we don not think they will get into the squad on Saturday. Paul Peschisolido and Carl Asaba are both doubtful and we don't know when they will be back.

In reserves Laurens Ten Heuvel has been hitting in a few goals and is expected to start on subs bench. Their will however been one noticeable player missing, and that is Phil Jagielka who starts his three match suspension following his sending off three weeks ago against Watford.

bladesfc.co.uk believe that the Blades team will line up like this:
Paddy Kenny (GK), Ben Doane (RB), Shaun Murphy (CB), Robert Page (CB), Robert Ullathorne (LB), John-Paul McGovern (RM), Stuart McCall (CM), Michael Brown (CM), Michael Tonge (LM), Wayne Allison (RF), Michael Boulding (LF).

Brighton have recently signed striker Guy Butters from division 1 rivals Gillingham and could start for the Seagulls, they also have Bradley Allen on trial from Grimsby though we doubt that he will play against The Blades.

Going on from the team they played away at Watford, we think they may play like this: Michael Kuipers (GK), Paul Watson (RB), Danny Gullip (CB), Adam Virgo (CB), Kerry Mayo (LB), Dean Hammond (RM), Daniel Marney (CM), Richard Carpenter (CM), Paul Brooker (LM), Bobby Zamora (RF), Graham Barrett (LF).

You have to go along way to find the last meeting between these two clubs, the last was way back during 1989/90 season where United went to Goldstone Ground and drew 2-2 with goals from Paul Wood and Bob Booker for United.

A very strange fact between these two clubs is that not only have they never met in a cup game but out of all their 18 meetings every game has been in Division Two which is what Nationwide League Division 1 is equivalent to.

Prediction: United are high in league while Brighton are rock bottom, The Blades will have to make up the points that lost last week due to not playing. With this in mind I think United will go away with a 1-0 victory.
