Sheffield United 1:1 Blackpool

Sheffield United were left to rue of a handful of missed chances as the Blades drew 1-1 with Blackpool on Boxing Day with the visitors reduced to ten men early doors.

Blades boss Bryan Robson saw his side booed off the field with further chants of 'Robson Out!'

In the ninth minute the home side could have opened the scoring but failed to do so when Beattie, chasing his 13th goal of the campaign hit his penalty straight at the keeper.

The spot kick was originally awarded when Billy Sharp was pulled down in the area by Ian Evatt, who for his troubles was red carded.

United took the lead via old faithful James Beattie but Blackpool clawed their back into the game and equalised through former Bradford City midfielder Claus Jorgensen.

Wolves 1:1 Sheffield United

James Beattie kept Sheffield United firmly in the race for the play-offs as his 12th goal of the season denied leaders Wolves victory at Molineux.

Beattie's 22nd minute strike cancelled out Neill Collins' second goal in two games as Kevin Blackwell's side stretched their unbeaten away record to seven games.

United will be wondering how they did not return to Bramall Lane with all three points.
