With four players cup-tied (Beattie, Ward, Lupoli and Bromby) United will have to dig deep to name a full squad in the starting 11 and on the bench. Chris Morgan could be the only recognised centre-back although he is also carrying a knee injury. With Leigh Bromby cup-tied, Ugo Ehiogu out for the remainder of the season and Matt Kilgallon doubtful Kevin Blackwell may have to revert to academy starlet Kyle Walker and Greg Halford may have to play the defensive role again.

Ian Bennett and Brian Howard both have injuries while Lee Hendrie has a race against time to recover from a calf injury. Gary Speed and Derek Geary are both long-term absentees along with Ehiogu. United boss Kevin Blackwell said:

"Kilgallon had to come off with a back strain on Saturday and Bennett and Howard didn't travel (to Plymouth), which could leave us a bit bare at Hull."
