Stephen Quinn opened the scoring on 21 minutes after nice play from Billy Sharp. Ugo Ehiogu's shirt was tugged in the 2nd half which the referee had no doubts that it was a penalty. Gary Speed tucked away. Former Blade Steve Kabba replied with a stunning strike but any qualms were silenced when Greg Halford's effort squeezed in below the crossbar.

The weather was nice to United as cool and light winds couldn't be used as an excuse if they were to lose. The away fans who were compact in the away stand were in good voice, but the Blackpool contingent were aloud too.

Henderson came almighty close when he struck the ball towards goal but Rachubka could save. Sharp surged down the right-wing to cross a pitch perfect ball to the back post which Henderson directed towards goal but couldn't see it hit the net.

Kabba had a chance to score against his former club but Kenny was first to the ball. The rated Adam Hamill crossed a dipping ball to the back post which Burgess could head across goal but no orange shirt could connect.

Kenny was in the right position when Kabba's deflected into his palms. United then won a free-kick which Halford struck with power but the Tangerine wall blocked.

With 20 minutes gone both sides were equal. Sharp ran strides down the touchline in front of the United faithful and crossed a sweet ball in which fell to Henderson who passed to Speed. Speed cannoned the ball to Quinn who could thump the ball into the bottom corner.

When Quinn went off to celebrate he had a little jester with the Blackpool fans when winding them up that he had just scored. They clearly didn't like it and Quinn consequently received boo's.

Hamill provided a test for Kenny but the United keeper was determined not to let Pool equalise. The referee then had a moment of madness when he yellow carded Darius Henderson for jumping up for the ball with Rachubka which looked fair enough.

Wild shots from Burgess and Taylor-Fletcher closed the half with both sets of players receiving applauses. Both teams came out all guns blazing when Quinn's effort for United was hit wide and Jorgensen did exactly the same.

Halford won a corner when he broke into the area. Tonge crossed in which was destined to meet Ehiogu but it didn't because he was fouled which the referee had no hesitation on awarding a penalty.

With regular taker James Beattie absent, Gary Speed took the duties from 12 yards and blasted into the top corner. United tried to protect their lead.

Halford's challenge was fair what Hamill didn't like so he replied with a hasty tackle which led to a yellow card. The ball was bouncing high in the Pool area which Kabba could connect nicely to curl into the top corner which Kenny had no chance of preventing.

The Blackpool fans were now in good voice again when their team looked to continue scoring. Burgess' header was brilliantly saved from Kenny which looked destined for a goal. Kenny could get a hand to the ball which was heading for the back of the net.

Tonge provided more difficult corners for Blackpool to contend with. It was deep to the back post which Halford took a touch and blasted hard to the upright and the ball squeezed underneath Rachubka's hand and the crossbar.

Sharp took time to walk the length of the pitch when the number 24 was held on the fourth officials board. He was replaced by Danny Webber while Halford who only just scored was changed for Matthew Spring.

Bloomfield Road's home end was gradually emptying. Webber tried to curl the ball into the top corner but it skimmed the post/crossbar. Matthew Spring also had a chance but it was saved by the Blackpool keeper.

United have now scored nine goals in three games which is very pleasing. United currently lie 5th in the Championship.
