The on-loan Fiorentina man has participated in many blood and thunder local derbies in his relatively short career and he is eager to be on the winning side whether he plays or not.

He said: "I was told it was the derby when I first arrived. It's the biggest game of the season for both teams. Wednesday won at their home, now it is our turn - we need three points to keep our great position in the league.

"I played for Arsenal reserves against Tottenham and it was quite a big thing, I've also played for Derby against Forest and Norwich versus Ipswich - all big games that can make a season for the team that wins.

"I grew up in Parma but supported AC Milan and went to the San Siro - to watch them against Inter when Van Basten was playing - the atmosphere is amazing, similar to what I expect here - it means everything to the local people."
