Sheffield United succumbed to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Southampton last Saturday with Keith Gillespie netting the Blades goal.

It was Sheffield United who netted the first goal but it did come from a Saints blunder; on 12th minute James Beattie slipped the ball through the defender for Gillespie to fire home at the angle.

After that things went to pot when Gregor Rasiak (19) levelled for the visitors before Jhon Viafara (31) capitalised on a terrible punch by Paddy Kenny to fire into an empty net.

Sheffield United should retain a full strengthen side from that which were defeat by Southampton with full-back Gary Naysmith (ankle) the Blades only doubt.

They will however be without David Carney, Geoff Horsfield and Rob Hulse who remain sidelined through injury.

Possible Blades Line-Up: Paddy Kenny, Chris Morgan, Gary Cahill, Chris Armstrong, Keith Gillespie, Michael Tonge, Lee Hendrie, Stephen Quinn, James Beattie, Jonathan Stead.

Cardiff City come into this game on back of a 1-1 draw at Barnsley; with the team likely to remain in South Yorkshire and not travel back until Wednesday.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink rolled back the years and unleashed a stunning shot which cannoned in off the post (72 minutes) for his second goal in as many games before, with six minutes remaining Brian Howard headed home Martin Devaney's cross.

City boss Dave Jones is likely to retain the services of veteran strikers Robbie Fowler (Liverpool, Leeds United and Manchester City) and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink (Leeds United, Middlesbrough and Chelsea) who between them have played 565 Football League games (+109 sub appearances) whilst they are only five goals shy of the 300 mark.

Possible Bluebirds Line-Up: Michael Oakes, Glenn Loovens, Roger Johnson, Kevin McNaughton, Tony Capaldi, Trevor Sinclair, Joe Ledley, Gavin Rae, Stephen McPhail, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, Robbie Fowler.
