Due to the England international with Israel last weekend it meant that the Blades last played on 1 September at Scunthorpe United; with the Blades on the wrong end of a 3-2 result.

The performance by Sheffield United was shocking and furthermore highlighted the need of an Attacking-Midfielder which has yet to arrive. With no service to the strikers the Blades struggled to create opportunities and came as no surprise when the Iron went 2-0 up with goals from Andy Crosby and Martin Paterson.

Blades boss Bryan Robson changed things around and super substitute Danny Webber (79 & 83) twice latched onto headers from James Beattie to level the score.

However the game turned sour when both Derek Geary (United) and Cliff Bryne (Iron) were set off for going head-to-head with each other before a defensive error allowed Matthew Sparrow to dispatch the winner for the home side in the last minute.

As a result defender Derek Geary will now miss the quick fire games against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Bramall Lane as well as the away outings at Blackpool and Crystal Palace.

The Blades are also without defensive midfielder Nick Montgomery who has undergone a double hernia operation.

Winger Keith Gillespie was expected to miss the Euro 2008 qualifier in Latvia last Wednesday with a knee injury put pulled through and played the full 90 minutes - maybe in some respect he wished he hadn't after netting the winning goal (in his own net) in a 2-1 defeat.

Blades Possible Line-Up: Paddy Kenny, Leigh Bromby, Chris
Morgan, Chris Lucketti, Matthew Kilgallon, , Keith Gillespie, Michael Tonge, Alan Quinn, Chris Armstrong, James Beattie, Jonathan Stead.

Wolverhampton's visit to Stoke City hardly got the pulses racing but at least they came away from the Britannia Stadium with a point after a boring 0-0 draw.

Former Sheffield United defender Jody Craddock will not play at Bramall Lane, he is currently on loan at Stoke City and has seen his spell extended by a further month. Craddock was signed on loan at the beginning of the 1999-00 season and started ten games before returning to Sunderland.

However Neill Collins is likely to start against his former club; he was signed during February 2006 and stared on his debut in a 2-1 away victory at Sheffield Wednesday; he played a further game against Queens Park Rangers (lost 3-2) before return to Sunderland.

Wolves Possible Line-Up: Wayne Hennessey, Darren Ward, Neill Collins, Gary Breen, Kevin Foley, Michael Knightly, Seyi George Olofinjana, Karl Henry, Stephen Ward, Freddy Eastwood, Andy Keogh.

Blades- Mad Prediction: Blades 2-1 Wolves
