16.10.2010 - Sheffield United vs. Burnley

Wade Elliott (13 minutes) fired home a fierce shot to beat Paddy Kenny and Sheffield United in the race for promotion to the Premier League and later on in that game the Blades saw Jamie Ward and Lee Hendrie both sent off in different incidents.

Gary Speed has been put in charge of the Blades and will attempt to guide United to the big time in his first managerial role; but the club lay 19th in the Championship table and face a Clarets side who occupy the last play-off spot.

The Bramall Lane club will be without Darius Henderson (hamstring), Ryan France (back), Lee Williamson (back), Robert Kozluk (leg), Kyle Bartley (fractured cheek bone).

Defender Chris Morgan (calf) is close to fitness and could start against the Clarets; though Nick Montgomery is expected to take the captains armband if the former Barnsley skipper is made unavailable.

Jamie Ward (forward) will serve the last of a three match suspension this weekend. He was shown a straight red card in the 1-0 defeat at Leeds United and will now be made available for selection next Tuesday night in our away game at Hull City.

Ex-Claret Stephen Jordan is expected to be retained and feature against his former club. He was signed by the Turf Moor club from Manchester City in July 2007 - making his debut in a 2-1 win over West Bromwich Albion.

He helped guide the Clarets to promotion in May 2009, beating the Blades in the showcase Play-Off Final at Wembley and went onto make 79 (4) appearances for the club before being released in July 2010.

Expected Eleven: Simonsen, Calvé, de Laet, Nosworthy, Jordan, Ertl, Cresswell, Montgomery, Britton, Yeates, Bogdanovic.

Burnley travel to Bramall Lane hoping to shoot their way in into the big time at the first attempt after failure in their first Premiership season.

Clarets boss Brian Laws will be without midfielder Chris McCann after having crucial ligament surgery in August; he has played just 13 minutes domestic football last season and is likely to be sidelined for some time.

Defender Clarke Carlisle will be made unavailable for their trip to S2; the former Watford stopper was handed a straight red card in the 1-1 draw at Millwall two weeks ago and will start the first of a three match suspension. He will miss further home fixtures against Barnsley and Reading in the next seven days.

Expected Eleven: Jensen, Mears, Fox, Duff, Bikey, Marney, Eagles, Elliott, Cork, Iwelumo, Rodriguez.
