The Blades made it 16 consecutive league games unbeaten last Tuesday night when they drew in a goal less draw at tough Swindon Town, but almost stole maximum points towards the end of the match when Harry Maguire saw his effort cleared off the line. The result pushed United to top of the league prior to Tranmere Rovers fixture at Hartlepool United 24 hours later.

United were beaten at Stadium:MK last season, Alan Smith netted a pivotal goal in late April to secure a 1-0 win which dented their promotion chances; but at Bramall Lane - on a Tuesday night in October United triumphed

The Blades will be without keeper Mark Howard (thigh) through injury, but former Reading and Portsmouth striker Dave Kitson (hamstring) could be included amongst the eighteen man squad unless he sustains another injury setback.

United have been criticized for not scoring enough goals against our opponents this season despite a prestigious league record "There have been lots of titles that have been won on the basis of winning lots of games 1-0. We'd love to score more but we'd be satisfied with doing that." Danny Wilson told BBC Radio Sheffield. "We have a different type of player to what we had last season. We were more open last season and we conceded lots of goals because of that.

"We've had to bring players in who are versatile because of the financial position that we're in but everyone has excelled themselves. The unbeaten run is not our driving force this season; our driving force is wanting to get enough points to get promoted."

MK Dons lay slightly outside the play-off zone (8th) despite a 1-0 victory at home to Leyton Orient last Wednesday night; Ryan Lowe (41) netting the only goal of the game. It was the clubs second successive league victory but may be looking forward to facing there 'rivals' AFC Wimbledon should both clubs' win there respected replay's.

Dons boss Karl Robinson will assess the fitness of former Barnsley and Huddersfield Town defender Anthony Kay (knee) before this weekends fixture with Sheffield United. Meanwhile Daniel Powell is doubtful.

Veteran striker Alan Smith told BBC Three Counties Radio; "Looking at their results they're very similar to us. Both teams are very strong defensively. They'll come here looking to get a draw I would imagine. They'll be coming full of confidence and it should bode well for a good game. You want to play in big games and they don't get much bigger than this. Sheffield United are favourites to win this division but we'll go into it expecting to win."
