Newry Town 1-3 Sheffield United
Saturday, 21 July 2007

Goals from Alan Quinn, Michael Tonge and Danny Webber were enough top ensure Bryan Robson's hat-tricks of friendly victories since he took over last May.

Trialsts; Jan-Michael Williams and Silva Spann look top have been left out of the fixture whilst former Celtic defender Jean-Joel Perrier Doumbe was released by his trial a week ago. New signing Lee Hendrie also didn't appear.

Town started off the game well but it was Quinn who spurned a good chance early on whilst Webber shot wide of the angle when looking favourite to score.

With five minutes remaining from the break United took the incentive; Stead created a scoring opportunity before driving low and Alan Quinn converted from six yards out.

Matthew Kilgallon flashed a header wide and Danny Webber failed to capitalize from close range. And, on 48 minute the Blades were left to rule on missed chances when Town levelled the score.

Former Leeds United defender Kilgallon was penalised for a soft challenge on 18 yard line and Clarke hammered the ball through the wall and past Paddy Kenny.

The visitors found chances harder to come by but somehow managed to win the game after Tonge and Webber both found the net bulging. Tonge (80th minute) saw his free kick fly in whilst Webber netted virtually on the line to seal the win.

Blades: Kenny, Geary, Morgan, Kilgallon, Naysmith, Gillespie (Shelton 80), Tonge, Leigertwood, A.Quinn, Stead, Webber. Unused: Armstrong, Bennett, Lucketti.
