The Blades boosted there promotion credentials with a 3-0 victory at Gigg Lane last Saturday; 4,000 traveling fans witnessed Richard Cresswell (54 minutes), Ched Evans (62) and Lee Williamson (81) all find the back of the net after a goalless first half.

Blades boss Danny Wilson named striker James Beattie on the substitutes bench in what was his last appearance for the club following the ending of his contract. He has however been offered a new deal and could be included in the squad at the Valley should he take up the Blades offer. Danny Philliskirk or Erik Tonne could find a place on the substitutes bench in his absence.

Charlton Athletic too boosted their promotion push with a 1-0 victory at Hillsborough last weekend when Johnnie Jackson's (28 minutes) free-kick was enough to dent a whole in Sheffield Wednesday's season.

The Addicks gave a debut to new signing Leon Cort, the defender came off the substitutes bench in S6 but striker Danny Haynes (from Barnsley) could be included in the squad to face the Blades. With Barnsley he netted a brace at Bramall Lane last season in a 2-2 draw which conformed the Blades relegation to League One.

They will be without midfielder Stephen Dale (ankle) through injury as well as veteran striker Jason Euell who has joined AFC Wimbledon on loan. Former Sheffield United defender Simon Francis is currently at Bournemouth in a similar deal.
