The Blades, managed by Danny Wilson earned a place into round two after beating Hartlepool United in a penalty shoot-out after a 1-1 draw after Stephen Quinn had gifted United a first half lead.

They drew 1-1 at Tranmere Rovers last Saturday – taking the lead through an unexpected 30 yard strike from Nick Montgomery (44th minute) before ten minutes from time Rovers levelled to tie the game.

United are expected to be without midfielder Kevin McDonald (ankle) through injury, but is boosted by the returns of former Liverpool winger Ryan Flynn (hamstring) and striker Chris Porter (dead-leg) and may both be included at Goodison Park tomorrow night.

Possible Blades Line-Up: Steve Simonsen, Matthew Lowton, Harry Maguire, Neill Collins, Jean-Francois Lescinel, Lee Willisomson, Nick Montgomery, Michael Doyle, Stephen Quinn, Richard Cresswell, Jordan Slew.

Everton boss David Moyes may have a selection headache ahead of the fixture against United with only former Blades target Victor Anichebe as his only fit available striker with Jermaine Beckford (knee), Tim Cahill (illness) and Louis Saha (injured) all out injured.

He is also without Seamus Coleman (ankle ligaments), while Magaye Gueye (broken toe) and Diniyar Bilyaletdinov (suspension) are also unavailable for selection.

The Scot told evertonTV: “We have got a few doubts. We have a doubt about Jermaine, he has a knock on his knee. Tim Cahill is feeling a bit sick and we are not quite sure where Louis is just yet in his general fitness. Obviously we are missing Seamus still, Bilyaletdinov is still suspended and Magaye Gueye has a broken toe so, yes, we are missing a few, but hopefully we will be okay.”

The Toffees book there place in round two after receiving a bye – all Premier League clubs are exempt from taking part in the first round whilst those competing in European competitions will join at the third round stage. Last weekend they were on the receiving end of 0-1 home defeat to Queens Park Rangers who recorded their first victory of the new season.

We’ve met before...

The Blades and The Toffees have met over 100 times in the past, our first ever competitive encounter coming in September 1893, United winning 3-2 away from home. However our last visit to Goodison Park ended in defeat (0-2) on 21 October 2006.

It was a disastrous day for Neil Warnock’s Blades as they crashed during this Premier League encounter.

Should Everton score once (or more!) against the Blades then they shall accomplish 200 goals in all competitions against United.
