The Blades got back to winning ways after the Steel City Derby defeat on Sunday by claiming a hard fought three points over Scunthorpe United. United fell behind to a Mark Duffy (31 minutes) goal and following a hard challenge on Michael Doyle - former Barnsley and Crystal Palace defender Sam  Togwell (38) was dismissed by referee Paul Tierney.

In the second half the Blades hit back and were level through midfielder Lee Williamson (58) when he connected with Ched Evans cross to score and the victory was sealed through Stephen Quinn (82) who's long range shot found the net via a deflection.

United will be aiming to complete the double over Oldham who they beat 2-0 on the opening day of the season; goals from Harry Maguire and Richard Cresswell set the Blades off to a winning start. Blades boss Danny Wilson will again be without midfielder Kevin McDonald (hamstring) who is considered as doubtful, Lee Williamson is likely to deputise in his absence. They bare also without Nick Montgomery (calf) through injury.

Oldham Athletic come into this fixture following a 1-1 draw with Colchester United on Tuesday night. The Latics struck first in the first half through Keanu Marsh-Brown (37) and held out until Anthony Wordsworth's (81) strike within the final moments of the game. The result left Athletic fifteenth in the League One table - seven points ahead of the drop zone.

Latics manager Paul Dickov could name an unchanged squad which drew midweek with the U's; he is still poised to be without skipper Dean Furman (knee) through injury with 18 year old Carl Winchester deputising in his absence.

Former Rotherham United and West Bromwich Albion striker Reuben Reid (thigh) and defender Zander Diamond (hip) both returned from long injury lay-offs and was included amongst the substitutes on Tuesday night. However they are without Paul Black (hamstring) and James Wesolowski (shoulder) through injury.
