Stroud’s first game in charge involving the Blades was during their promotion season of 2005/06 when Danny Webber netted a last minute winner at home to Preston North End, he was also in charge in a further two fixtures that campaign in away losses at Leicester City and Coventry City.
During the Bryan Robson era Mr. Stroud was at Glanford Park when United fought from two goals down to draw 2-2 against Scunthorpe – substitute Webber had netted both; however Stroud then sent off Derek Geary for a rash challenge and the Iron netted a winner. Cliff Bryne was also sent off for the home side in this game.
