Britain is currently suffering freezing temperatures and parts are experiencing snow. Today (Friday), Bristol City say they are 'confident' the fixture will take place.

Their press released read: 'City are protecting the Ashton Gate pitch from the freezing weather with large covering to ensure tomorrow's home game with Sheffield United goes ahead.

The pitch will be covered from 2pm and the sheets will remain in place until the morning of the game. They will be removed in time for the groundstaff to work on cutting and marking out the lines on the turf.

The forecast is predicting overnight temperatures ranging from minus five to minus eight. A deluge of snow is also expected. However, the club remains confident the game will go ahead and no inspection is planned at present.'

United had two games postponed last season due to treacherous weather conditions. Two away fixtures at Watford and Peterborough were cancelled. United lost both of the rearranged games.
